Job Summary:

A Used Car Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining used vehicles, ensuring they meet safety and performance standards.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Perform Inspections and Repairs: Conduct thorough inspections of used cars to identify mechanical and electrical issues.

Perform necessary repairs and maintenance tasks to ensure vehicles are in optimal condition.

Test Drive Vehicles: After repairs, conduct test drives to verify that issues have been resolved and that the vehicle operates correctly.

Maintain Equipment: Ensure that all tools and equipment are in good working order and follow safety protocols in the workshop.

Explain repair needs and costs to Used Car department, providing clear and honest assessments of vehicle conditions.

Document Repairs: Maintain accurate records of all repairs and services performed on vehicles, including parts used and labor hours.

Must read, interpret, and transcribe data in order to maintain accurate records.

Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed.

Maintain a clean, safe working environment.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Understanding of automotive systems.

Ability to use the diagnostic equipment and tools including power tools.

Willingness to learn with hands-on training.

Ability to maintain a professional appearance.

Ability to provide friendly customer service.

Education and Experience:

Automotive and engine repair experience or auto mechanic training preferred.

Working knowledge of state inspection guidelines, particularly those concerning emissions and safety, is advantageous.

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

ASE certifications required.

Physical Requirements:

May lift objects that weigh as much as 50 lbs.

Good hand-eye coordination.

Prolonged periods of standing.

Frequent reaching, bending, squatting, pulling and lifting.
