This is a part time position and will close 3/19/2026.
US Synthetic has an immediate need for a Purchasing Student Intern located in Orem, UT. The Purchasing Student Intern will assist the Purchasing and Supply Chain organization by assisting with supplier management and communication, data analysis, purchase order management, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What You Will Do:
Supplier Management Support
Assist with supplier onboarding and record updates.
Participate in supplier communication (email follow-ups, data collection, scheduling meetings).
Track open supplier actions (quotations, confirmations, documentation).
Purchase Order & Transactional Work
Create purchase orders under supervision.
Reconcile delivery discrepancies, missing paperwork, or invoice mismatches.
Maintain accurate data within the ERP/MRP system.
Data Analysis & Reporting
Analyze spend data to reveal trends, cost drivers, or consolidation opportunities.
Support inventory analysis: slow-moving items, stockouts, safety stock, MOQ alignment.
Prepare dashboards or reports for the purchasing team (price variance, supplier performance, on-time delivery, etc.).
Project Support & Continuous Improvement
Contribute to targeted improvement projects
Support process mapping, documentation updates, and root-cause investigations for procurement issues.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with Planning, Quality, Engineering, Logistics, and Finance to ensure alignment and timely communication.
Participate in cross-functional meetings to observe how purchasing integrates with production and business operations.
Create, audit and maintain SOPs to use for training, i.e. Critical Knowledge and Job Breakdown Sheets
Work a flexible schedule based around school schedule
Follow all company policies (Attendance, No Tobacco Products on Campus, Illegal Drug & Alcohol, Family Medical Leave Act, Personal Appearance, Personal Electronic Devices, Vacation & Personal Time, etc.)
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED is required
Immigration sponsorship not available for this role
Must have been accepted to a bachelor’s supply chain program at a
university with intent to graduate
Physical Demands:
Combination of sitting, standing and walking for eight or more hours
Occasional repetitive motions
Use of Safety Equipment

Ability to apply things learned at school
Ability to teach and explain methods, standards, etc. to others (Job Instruction)
Ability to speak in front of crowds
Team attitude
Advanced computer skills, i.e. Microsoft Excel, Word, etc.
Once an Intern employee has graduated from their specific program, they may apply for any open positions available at US Synthetic. The positions may be open to both Internal and External candidates. If no position is offered, US Synthetic will provide an additional 3-month period of employment to find other employment.
