Department Overview
Software Upgrade Operations team is committed to providing the Motorola Solutions Public safety customers the best possible experience while ensuring all upgrade activities are done correctly and promptly. The team is responsible for planning and executing software upgrades for PremiereOne CAD, Records and Mobile. The team works closely with CMSO, SI deployment and other Implementation teams to support Upgrades, deployments and customer hardware refresh.
Job Description
The Upgrade Operations Field Engineer will be responsible for the end-to-end execution of software upgrades for customer Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems, with a primary focus on the PremierOne Records platform. In this role, you will lead the technical upgrade process while working in close coordination with Project Managers, support staff, and cross-functional deployment teams to ensure seamless planning and execution. Beyond the installation phase, you will serve as a key technical resource for the customer, proactively identifying and resolving any post-upgrade issues to ensure system stability and long-term operational success.
Responsibilities
• Present new features to customers prior to upgrades
• Coordinate customer installs with Project managers, and various support teams
• Perform remote and oniste software upgrades
• Identify process changes required to support RMS upgrades in new releases
• Perform Functional validation testing following upgrades
• Characterize and document issues found post upgrade on customer systems
Qualifications
• 3+ years of experience in one or more of the following: Pre or Post sales engineering, solutions engineering or technical support
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Knowledge in networking concepts and SQL databases
• Experience with Windows System Administration
• Analytical mindset that can dig into client and technical needs
• Solid oral, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills
• Excellent people and management skills to interact with staff, colleagues and cross-functional teams, and customers
• Capable of obtaining security clearance for customer upgrades
• Knowledge of PremierOne CAD, records or CAD interfaces a plus
This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.
Target Base Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000 USD
Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.

Basic Requirements

• Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customer.
