Job Title: United to House LA Coalition Manager
ABOUT THE UNITED TO HOUSE LA COALITION
The United to House LA Coalition (UHLA) developed the ULA ballot measure known as the “Mansion Tax” and ensured its passage in November 2022, The UHLA Coalition includes community and tenants groups, unions, providers of services for the unhoused, and other organizations. The UHLA Coalition has continued its work to ensure that the ballot measure is effectively implemented, protect it from interference and to build on the vision and successes of ULA.
Description
As the UHLA coalition continues its work to protect, promote and implement Measure ULA, its work will soon enter a new phase following the achievement of some initial key milestones. The coalition will look to broaden public awareness of the impact of ULA programs, expand upon the power its organizing has built, and advance strategies that complement Measure ULA. The Coalition Manager will play an important role as UHLA builds this next chapter of work. The Manager will coordinate the strengthening and expansion of the coalition, amplify UHLA’s communications efforts, and advance external strategy.
Job Duties
Coalition Management
In coordination with the Organizing & Events committee chair re-engage inactive coalition members
Provide staff support to UHLA committees
Provide staff support to coalition convenings, internal strategy sessions
Communications
Coordinate the collection of human impact stories for ULA programs
Coordinate the collection of quantitative data/outcomes from ULA programs
Support reporter cultivation strategy, in coordination with the Communications Lead
Support the creation and administration of social media content and channels
Events and Mobilizations
Support the Organizing & Events committee with logistics for events and press outreach
External Strategy
Support the execution of the coalition external strategy
Establish and maintain strategic relationships
Power Building and Canvass
Support the establishment of a coalition-wide canvassing strategy
Other
Other duties as directed
This role includes some early mornings, late nights and weekends
The Ideal Candidate will have these qualifications:
Policy advocacy experience, ideally in Los Angeles.
Experience leading and managing coalition campaigns.
Experience with organizing and/or electoral field campaigns.
Understanding of communications and ability to coordinate communications staff within coalition member organizations and external consultants.
Commitment to the goals of ULA.
Commitment to racial and economic justice.
Commitment to strengthening social justice movements and especially housing justice.
Strong communicator and ability to understand and work with a wide range of people.
Detail-oriented, accurate, and thorough.
Integrity and mature judgment.
Employment Status: Full time at-will, non-exempt
Reporting: This position will be housed at KIWA and reports to the UHLA Coalition Director.
Salary: $75,000-$85,000 depending on capacity and relevant experience.
Benefits: Fully covered employee healthcare and dental insurance beginning within 30 days of the start of employment. Paid holidays (approximately 19 per year). 21 days of PTO accrued over the year. Up to $75 monthly cell phone stipend. 403(b) retirement program starting on your first day.
Contingent on Funding: All positions are contingent on funding available.
