Job Summary:
The Underground Utility Lead/Foreman, you will be responsible for overseeing the construction of wet and dry underground utility for our projects, including water, sewer, and storm drain lines. You will manage a team of pipelayers and excavators and ensure that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and within deadlines. Additionally, you will maintain quality control, review project plans, and adhere to applicable regulations and safety protocols.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage the installation and layout of both wet and dry utilities, including; underground water, sewer, and storm pipes/conduit.
Ability to manage and schedule crew members.
Create a three-week schedule.
Read and interpret plans and specifications.
Follow company safety procedures and protocol.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in underground utility construction, with previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role
Understanding of construction regulations, safety protocols, and best practices
Experience in crew management
Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate project updates, progress, and potential issues to team members, inspectors, and management.
Experience with underground utility installation, trenching, grading, and/or shoring
Familiarity with equipment operations and maintenance
Ability to read and interpret project plans and blueprints.
Proficient with basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite or similar project management tools
Flexibility to occasionally work extended hours and weekends as necessary
Valid driver's license
Physical Requirements:
Ability to handle physical labor and strenuous tasks.
Able to stand and walk project site for extended period of times.
Regularly talk and/or hear.
Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel.
Occasionally required to but not limited to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.
Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs and work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.
Must be able to position one-self to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics and tunnels.
Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move at least 50 pounds regularly/occasionally
Must be able to respond quickly to sounds.
Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
Must be able to see and respond to dangerous situations.
Must be able to safely climb ladders while carrying up to 40 pounds.
Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day.
Must be able to work in hot and cold environments and on concrete floors.
