JOB PURPOSE
Trucking Officer - Longhaul & Cross-Border is overseeing and coordinating various aspects of daily trucking. This position involves ensuring smooth transportation processes, maintaining compliance with regulations, optimizing efficiency, and managing a team of drivers and staff.
Core responsibilities
•Oversee the day-to-day operations of the trucking fleet, including dispatching, scheduling, and route planning with focus on Longhaul & Cross-Border.
•Monitor vehicle availability, maintenance schedules, and inspections to ensure safe and reliable operations.
•Coordinate with drivers, dispatchers, and other team members to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods.
•Manage a team of drivers, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
•Maintain compliance with transportation regulations and industry standards, including safety and environmental regulations.
•Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and requests related to transportation services.
•Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure the availability of equipment, supplies, and resources needed for operations.
•Optimize routes and load distribution to minimize fuel consumption and transportation costs. •Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) and software to track shipments, monitor driver performance, and manage logistics.
•Prepare and analyze operational reports, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
•Manage relationships with suppliers, clients, and other stakeholders involved in the transportation process.
Qualification
A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field would be an advantage but is not mandatory.
Previous experience in trucking operations, logistics, or a related field.
Knowledge of transportation regulations, safety standards, and compliance requirements.
Communication skills to manage drivers and interact with various stakeholders.
Proficiency in using transportation management software and technology tools
Analytical mindset to assess operational data and identify areas for improvement.
Problem-solving skills to address operational challenges effectively.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make decisions under pressure.
