Truck Driver - Class A CDL

*This position will be local driving with a mini-float. No OTR driving is required.*

Basic Function and Scope of Responsibilities:

To safely and efficiently deliver and pick up products and communicate with the customer and SBES on any special needs. Must maintain a clean, safe, and orderly vehicle with properly secured loads at all times. Accurately keep records as required. This position will also be responsible for miscellaneous duties in the shop when not driving. 

Essential Function/Responsibilities:

Must have knowledge of and conduct maintenance of single and multi-rear axle trucks meeting the requirements for Louisiana Commercial Driver’s Licensing (including general knowledge of laws, regulations, and operation of the stated vehicle).

Perform pre-trip inspections of his/her vehicle and accurately complete driver’s log book.

Must be able to complete pickup and delivery tickets and any other paperwork required by the customer or SBES.

Maneuver and control the vehicle in a safe fashion, which includes handling the vehicle on-site and in over-the-road situations, proper signaling, searching for hazards, controlling speed, lane positioning, matching speeds to road conditions (wet, dry, snow, or ice), and the ability to drive during the daytime or nighttime.

Safely load and unload all equipment/materials over all terrains and properly secure all loads.

Responsible for routine fueling, lubricating, and servicing of vehicles.

When not driving, will be directed by supervisor on tasks to be completed around shop and yard (i.e. moving tools, operating a forklift, etc.)

May need to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Training, Skills, Knowledge, and/or Experience: 

Two years of related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must be able to safely operate an overhead crane and forklift. 

Must have a clean driving record.

Must have a Class A CDL. 

Must possess basic computer skills.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
