Job Description
Reporting to the Service Manager and working alongside experienced Service Technicians, the right person will embody these core values and take ownership of the responsibilities listed below to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
You will be available to travel as often as required to paper mills, primarily in North America, and work according to a changing schedule (will require weekends at times) to conduct the following tasks related to our automated tail threading equipment:
Routine servicing of equipment.
Inspecting and troubleshooting equipment failures.
Repairing damaged equipment and replacing faulty parts, such as belts, bearings, cylinders, blades, and pneumatic valves.
Installation, alignment, and commissioning of new equipment.
Fine tune equipment at paper machine startups.
Provide equipment operating training to mill operators on new installations.
Produce timely and detailed service reports.
Build positive relationships with customers.
Follow all paper mill safety procedures and protocols and keep all safety training up to date.
Cooperate with technical team and share information across the organization.
Comprehend customer requirements and make appropriate recommendations/briefings.
Hand sketch and dimension sections of paper machine configurations.
The following are key responsibilities between service trips:
Assembly and testing of automated tail threading equipment in-house.
Produce system manuals, system setting sheets, or any other required documentation for new systems.
Assist with any shop requirements when not in the field (machining, assembly, fabrication and electrical).
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Trade certification and/or technical diploma.
Proven work experience as a field service technician.
Possess a Canadian passport to qualify for a work visa in the USA.
Excellent time management skills.
Mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical skills (basic understanding of PLC programs would be an asset).
Ability to problem-solve and improvise.
Good communication and the ability to train personnel on the operation of our equipment.
Physically fit and able to work with heavy equipment.
Pay attention to detail.
Work individually and as a team member.
Willing to participate in 10-panel drug screen test if required by a paper mill.
Training:
Training will be provided in-house as well as ongoing training on our equipment in pulp and paper mills.
Schedule:
4x10 hour days and some overtime will be required while in the field.
