Proven ability to plan and execute large-scale surface mining and heavy civil earthmoving operations.
Proficient in reading and interpreting mine development plans, civil drawings, and technical specifications.
10+ years of experience in heavy civil construction, surface mining, or large-scale earthmoving operations.
Experience managing large crews consisting of multiple foremen, operators, mechanics, laborers, subcontractors, and vendors.
Experience coordinating and managing large equipment fleets exceeding 100+ pieces of heavy equipment.
Strong understanding of surface mining operations including overburden removal, pit development, haul road construction, and mine infrastructure development.
Experience managing large earthmoving equipment such as hydraulic excavators, large dozers, scrapers, articulated haul trucks, rigid-frame haul trucks, loaders, graders, and support equipment.
Familiarity with water management systems including diversion structures, sediment control, cofferdams, and dewatering operations in mining environments.
Knowledge of mass excavation, embankment construction, moisture conditioning, and large-scale grading operations.
Understanding of soil classifications, rock excavation, and material handling in mining environments.
Preferred experience in drill and blast coordination, concrete structures, geotechnical construction, and mine reclamation.
Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate large crews and multiple subcontractors.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Safety-driven mindset with MSHA and OSHA certifications preferred.
Physically capable of navigating large mining operations and rugged terrain.
Responsibilities
Lead and enforce safety programs in compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and company policies across large-scale job sites.
Manage daily operations of large surface mining support projects involving multiple crews and a fleet of 100+ pieces of heavy equipment.
Supervise and coordinate multiple foremen, equipment operators, mechanics, subcontractors, and support personnel across large project sites.
Direct large-scale earthmoving and production operations including stripping, excavation, haul road construction, pit access development, and embankment construction.
Coordinate equipment utilization, maintenance schedules, and production targets to maximize operational efficiency.
Monitor and maintain high production rates for excavation, hauling, grading, and material placement operations.
Ensure environmental compliance including erosion control, sediment management, water diversion, and reclamation requirements.
Collaborate with the Project Manager to track production quantities, project costs, and equipment efficiency.
Review and interpret mine development plans, civil construction drawings, and contract documents.
Coordinate scheduling of crews, subcontractors, and equipment resources to maintain project timelines.
Review timesheets, production reports, equipment hours, and phase codes.
Track project schedules and milestones while implementing corrective actions to maintain progress.
Maintain discipline, productivity, and safety across all field operations.
