Patriot Broadband Constructions LLC dba Patriot Broadband Technologies is seeking a skilled HDD Locator -Drill Crew Foreman to support broadband fiber construction projects. This role is critical to safely installing underground conduit using horizontal directional drilling (HDD) methods. If you have experience operating drill rigs, locating bore paths, and working in utility construction—we want to hear from you. This is a travel to job site position. Patriot aims to conduct business within Pennsylvania, however, travel to neighboring states or Vermont are possible.
What You’ll Do
Operate and train operators on Vermeer horizontal directional drill for fiber optic installation
Perform pilot bores, reaming, and pullbacks according to project plans
Track and locate drill head using electronic locating equipment (Digitrak Falcon)
Maintain accurate bore path, depth, and alignment
Identify and avoid underground utilities (gas, electric, telecom, water)
Read and interpret construction drawings, bore profiles, and utility maps
Mix and manage drilling fluids based on soil conditions
Perform routine equipment inspections and maintenance
Follow all OSHA and safety regulations on the job site
Document bore logs, as-builts, and daily production reports
What We’re Looking For
3+ years of HDD drilling and/or locating experience
Experience in fiber or telecom construction preferred
Ability to operate drill rigs and/or locating equipment confidently
Strong understanding of underground utility safety and 811 processes
Ability to read construction plans and work independently in the field
Foreman/ crew lead experience
Comfortability with computer/ tablet use for electronic documentation of jobs.
Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred)
OSHA 10/30 certification preferred
Skills That Set You Apart
Experience with Vermeer, Ditch Witch, or similar HDD equipment
Strong troubleshooting skills in varying soil conditions
Excellent communication between operator and locator
Ability to maintain precise bore tolerances

Work Environment
Outdoor construction in all weather conditions
Physically active role (walking, lifting, standing)
Travel to job sites is required and is dependent on project needs.
