We are currently seeking a full-time Mental Health Tech (MHT)/Transportation Driver for the day shift (6:45 AM - 7 PM) and night shift (6:45 PM - 7:00 AM) with a 2/3 block schedule to join our clinical team.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Mental Health Worker/Driver at Freedom Behavioral Lake Charles ensures safe and dependable transportation for patients to and from the facility, including trips to appointments and home residences, and assists with meal pick-up. In addition to driving duties, this role supports the mental health team by participating in patient care and helping with daily program operations.
Key responsibilities include transporting patients safely, assisting with basic administrative tasks such as supporting patient charts, distributing meals, answering phones, and monitoring patients during staff break periods. This position is essential in promoting a structured, safe, and supportive environment for both patients and staff.
Strong communication skills and attention to detail are critical, as the Mental Health Worker/Driver must promptly report any concerns, behavioral changes, or clinical issues observed during supervision or transport to help ensure patient safety and continuity of care.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education: High School Diploma
License: Current Motor Vehicle License with clean MVR
Experience: Minimum experience of transporting patients in a 10-12 passenger van or similar type of vehicle. 1-2
years experience preferred.
