We are currently seeking a full-time Mental Health Tech (MHT)/Transportation Driver for the day shift (6:45 AM - 7 PM) and night shift (6:45 PM - 7:00 AM) with a 2/3 block schedule to join our clinical team.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Mental Health Worker/Driver at Freedom Behavioral Lake Charles plays an important role in supporting both patient care and daily facility operations by providing safe, dependable transportation and assisting the clinical team in maintaining a structured and therapeutic environment.
In this role, the Mental Health Worker/Driver is responsible for safely transporting patients to and from appointments, residences, and other approved destinations, as well as assisting with meal pickups and deliveries when needed. This position also supports day-to-day operations by helping with patient supervision, answering phones, assisting with basic administrative tasks, and providing coverage during staff breaks.
The Mental Health Worker/Driver works closely with the mental health team to help ensure patient safety, comfort, and overall well-being. Observing patient behaviors, monitoring interactions, and promptly communicating any concerns, behavioral changes, or clinical observations to nursing or leadership staff are essential responsibilities of this role.
This position requires strong communication skills, reliability, professionalism, and the ability to remain calm and attentive in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The ideal candidate is compassionate, dependable, and committed to supporting both patients and staff while contributing to the mission of Freedom Behavioral Lake Charles.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education: High School Diploma
License: Current Motor Vehicle License with clean MVR
Experience: Minimum experience of transporting patients in a 10-12 passenger van or similar type of vehicle. 1-2
years experience preferred.
