Position Summary
The Transfer Credit Specialist is responsible for managing data tracking for incoming transfer transcripts, evaluating and transcribing transfer credits in accordance with the policies and procedures set by the Registrar and East Central University. The transfer specialist is also responsible for daily updates to ECU’s internal transfer matrices as well annual updates to the OSRHE (Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education) matrix. The position will be expected to be familiar with front office operations and to serve as a back-up for general office intake if other employees are out.
Essential Job Duties
• Record and process incoming official transcripts using established tracking systems.
• Execute and follow the transfer credit evaluation procedures and policies set by the Registrar and East Central University.
• Document and process various forms of credit for prior learning and credit by examination, which include, but are not limited to, College Level Examination Program (CLEP), ASE, Advanced Placement (AP), and Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET).
• Respond to degree verification requests through the National Student Clearing House.
• Provide customer service support and respond to inquiries via phone.
• Serve as support when needed for general office intake operations.
• Work two commencement events each year (December and May).
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor or designee.

Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent with some college coursework required
• 1-2 years of experience preferred
• Bachelor's degree preferred

• Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in maintaining accurate records
• Proficient in problem-solving and analyzing academic documentation
• Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling student records and sensitive information
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with students and staff
• Ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy and efficiency
• Must have a strong work ethic and lead by example
• Must be a professional, credible and respected representative of the institution internally and in the community
• Demonstrated willingness and ability to act ethically and socially responsible
• Ability to communicate in a courteous manner
