Join SRL Traffic Systems, the UK leader in temporary traffic lights, Urban64 systems, and intelligent traffic solutions.
We’re expanding our Urban64 team and have opportunities for Trainee Technicians who enjoy hands‑on work, night shifts, travelling, and being part of a supportive, professional team.
No previous experience is required - full training is provided.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you’ll help install, maintain, and remove our advanced Urban64 Temporary Traffic Light Systems on major Local Authority and National Highways projects across the UK.
Install and remove temporary traffic systems (full training included)
Carry out basic system maintenance and equipment checks
Travel to sites nationwide (paid accommodation & food allowance when staying away)
Work as part of a small, experienced night team
Ensure safe, compliant installations following company processes
Use a company vehicle for work duties

Working Hours & Patterns (Important to Read Before Applying)
Night shift role: typically 8pm–4am, Monday to Friday
5 nights per week
Start times vary based on job location/site requirements
Nationwide travel required, based out of Solihull depot
Overnight stays when needed (hotel & food allowance provided)
On-call rota: 1 week in every 4 for emergency response
Weekend shifts may be required during certain projects
Night-shift salary uplift applied to every night worked
42.5 hours averaged over the quarter (workload varies — no overtime paid)
What We’re Looking For
You don’t need experience - just the right attitude.
Essential:
Full UK driving licence
Able to work night shifts consistently
Comfortable travelling nationwide and staying away when required
Able to work at heights
Trustworthy, punctual, and reliable
Able to lift/carry equipment (active job)
Good communicator and team player
Desirable (not required):
Highways or traffic management experience
CSCS card
IPAF 1B
Experience with vans/pickups (up to 3.5T)
