Our Taranaki laboratory provides community pathology services, serving a population of approximately 125,000.
About the role | Mō te tūranga:
Our Patient Services department has two casual positions available, suitable for either a Trainee or an experienced Phlebotomist. Hours are flexible, giving you the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and contribute to excellent patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
The key tasks include blood collection, responsible for handling contained specimens, i.e., human blood, urine and preparing specimens for transportation.
Provide professional customer service, and serve as a link between health professionals, their patients, and the laboratory.

To be successful in this role you need to have:
A positive and friendly approach to your work.
Compassion for others, including a real desire to provide high-quality care to a wide variety of patients of all ages and circumstances.
Excellent customer service skills including a high level of personal presentation.
Strong attention to detail and an ability to follow processes accurately, even when under pressure.
Respect for always ensuring patient confidentiality and in all matters.
Diploma in Applied Science, or a Bachelor of Science would be an advantage, but not essential.
Registration with the Medical Science Council and an Annual Practicing Certificate as a Pre-Analytical Technician would be an advantage, but not essential.
A clean New Zealand Driver’s Licence.
Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
If you are not already registered with the Medical Science Council of New Zealand, we will support you working towards becoming a Qualified Medical Laboratory Pre-Analytical Technician within 2 years of employment.\
