Our team of specialist pathologists, scientists, technicians, phlebotomists, couriers, and shared services personnel deliver a world-class service that together collects, analyses, and reports over 7 million patient results annually.
Our Patient Services Department is responsible for the collection of blood samples and handling contained specimens, i.e., human blood, faeces, urine, tissue etc from patients within the community and the hospital. These samples are then processed and tested in our state-of-the-art medical laboratory.

Our Patient Services Department is currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Trainee to join our friendly team at our North Shore, Auckland Laboratory. This is a permanent, full-time position of 80 hours per fortnight, located on the North Shore.

Key Responsibilities:
Collect blood samples from patients in both community and hospital settings.
Handle and manage contained biological specimens, including blood, faeces, urine, and tissue, in accordance with safety and compliance standards.
Ensure accurate labelling, handling, and transport of patient specimens.
Support the processing and testing of specimens within a state-of-the-art medical laboratory.
Maintain patient care, confidentiality, and quality standards at all times.

Excellent customer service skills including a high level of personal presentation.
Strong attention to detail and an ability to follow processes accurately, even when under pressure.

Good computer skills.
Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
If you are not already registered with the Medical Science Council of New Zealand, we will support you working towards becoming a Qualified Medical Laboratory Pre-Analytical Technician within 2 years of employment.
