Our Patient Services Department is responsible for the collection of blood samples and handling contained specimens, i.e., human blood, faeces, urine, tissue etc from patients within the community and the hospital. These samples are then processed and tested in our state-of-the-art medical laboratory.

About the role | Mō te tūranga:
Our Patient Services Department is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Trainee to join our team. This fixed-term, part-time role (40 hours per fortnight) offers hands-on experience across multiple collection centres in the ADHB Cluster 2B, including Victoria Park, CBD, Waiheke Island, Pt Chevalier, and Mt Eden.

You’ll gain valuable exposure to a variety of patient interactions, develop practical skills, and play an important role in delivering timely, high-quality services to our community.

Key Responsibilities include:

The key tasks include blood collection, responsible for handling contained specimens, i.e., human blood, faeces, and tissue, and preparing specimens for transportation.

Provide professional customer service, and serve as a link between health professionals, their patients, and the laboratory.

Eligibility to work in New Zealand.

If you are not already registered with the Medical Science Council of New Zealand, we will support you working towards becoming a Qualified Medical Laboratory Pre-Analytical Technician within 2 years of employment.
