About the role | Mō te tūranga:
Our Specimen Services department is currently looking for Medical Laboratory Pre-analytical Technicians/Trainees. This is a permanent, part-time position of 60 hours per fortnight, 6hours per weekday (1.30pm – 8pm). As we are a 24/7 laboratory, Specimen Services operates from 4:00 am to midnight. Successful applicants will be required to participate in the weekend roster, in addition to their scheduled weekday hours.
Key tasks include:
Barcoding, receipting, and preparing specimens for the laboratory.
Performing accurate data entry of patient and test details.
Answering telephone enquiries professionally.
Collaborating effectively as part of a team.
Working well under pressure with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
We are keen to hear from you if you are a Registered Medical laboratory Technician / Pre-Analytical Technician. We also welcome applicants interested in an entry-level Laboratory Trainee role.
About you | He kōrero mōu
To succeed in this role, you need to have:
The ability to work in a methodical manner adhering to strict quality procedure guidelines.
Customer focus and commitment to providing a high quality of service to internal and external customers with effective interpersonal skills.
A minimum of NCEA level 3 in Science, Maths and English, and/or previous experience in a laboratory setting
Diploma in Applied Science, or a Bachelor of Science would be an advantage, but not essential.
Registration with the Medical Science Council and an Annual Practising Certificate as a Medical Laboratory Pre-analytical Technician in Specimen Services is desirable, but not essential.
Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
If you are not already registered with the Medical Science Council of New Zealand, we will support you working towards becoming a Qualified Medical Laboratory Pre-Analytical Technician within 2 years of employment.
