We are a leading international wholesale company, offering a unique opportunity for driven and ambitious people to join our Corporate Trainee Programme at METRO AG in Düsseldorf, the holding company of METRO/MAKRO.

About our programme:

Our traineeship programme is designed to bring you fast-track into a senior expert role in your chosen field. As a trainee, you will have the chance to work in specialized areas, exciting projects and gain exposure to different departments and leaders. In addition, you can complete an assignment in one of our METRO countries abroad, providing a truly international experience.

In our trainee programme in the field of Finance, you will gain first-hand experience in our Corporate Controlling division. You will learn core financial activities in an international corporate holding, such as preparing reports for executive leadership, supervisory board and external analysts, budgeting and forecasting. Furthermore, you will deep-dive into financial and commercial controlling activities with which we evaluate the business performance of our international wholesale entities; based on that, opportunities and risks are identified together with local colleagues and business units. Finally, investment case evaluations will also be are part of your traineeship. The usage of modern BI and AI tools will complement all of these stints.

• 18 months duration starting on 1 October 2026

What you need to bring to the table to be eligible:

• A master's degree in business/economics with a specialization in Finance, Controlling or a related field with very good results 
• Relevant internships in Corporate Finance 
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
• Ability to learn quickly, adaptability to new and changing environments, open and pro-active personality
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
• Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office 365, especially Excel. Additionally, an explorative mindset for AI usage 
• Engagement in extra-curricular activities is a plus
• Fluency in English (min. B2); German language skill is a plus
