Fort McKay First Nation is seeking motivated and multitasked oriented individual who is flexible and work well in a team environment to fill a full-time permanent Trades Person position. The Tradesperson performs semi-skilled and skilled manual labour and sub-trade (non-ticketed) work to support the operations and maintenance of Fort McKay First Nation.
The work involves a variety construction, maintenance, or repair duties, requiring skill, precision, experience, and familiarity with trade practices in one or more building trades (i.e. carpentry, framing, finishing work) to produce refined work products.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the maintenance or construction of one or more of the following types of duties:
Construction and maintenance of fences, decks, steps, and guardrails, as well as more refined carpentry work, such as installing millwork and doors.
Performs plastering work such as patching cracks and holes in walls.
Paints interior and exterior surfaces.
Installs and tapes drywall.
Assists or installs concrete forms and pours concrete for basic applications.
Performs tile work.
Assists journeypersons in general building maintenance or construction.
Maintains basic records.
Operates a truck to transport equipment and materials to and from job sites.
Participates as a team member, supports FMFN operations and maintenance as required, and follows and supports all health and safety requirements.
Performs other related duties as required.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
Highschool diploma or GED equivalent an asset.
Five (5) or more years of previous experience required in carpentry, framing, or finishing work.
Valid Class 5 Driver's License
Considerable knowledge of standard methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the trades involved.
Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions.
Skill in the use and care of the tools required to perform the work assignments.
Ability to maintain accurate records.
Knowledge and ability to demonstrate safety precautions involved with the trades involved.
Able to perform heavy manual labour for extended periods of time under various weather conditions.
Willing to work in all weather conditions.
