Job Description
Job Title: Trade Compliance Operations Coordinator
Location: Remote (Canada)
Department: Canadian Operations
Reports to: Manager, Canadian Operations
Employment Type: Full-Time
Role Overview
CA Compliance is seeking a nimble, process-driven Trade Compliance Operations Coordinator to anchor our Canadian adjustment and audit desk. This is a technical, execution-focused role designed for a professional who excels at high-volume data management and the "detective work" of customs brokerage.
While our senior team manages high-level strategy, you will be the primary driver of the adjustment lifecycle—handling the end-to-end processing of CAD corrections and performing critical internal audits to ensure our data is bulletproof before it hits final accounting. We are looking for a humble, detail-obsessed individual who takes pride in maintaining the highest standards of regulatory accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
1. CAD Adjustments & Technical Filings
Execution Lead: Process the daily flow of Commercial Accounting Declaration (CAD) adjustments and mass corrections within the CARM environment.
Accuracy & Timelines: Manage the lifecycle of post-entry corrections, ensuring all filings are submitted accurately and within strict CBSA legislated timeframes.
Data Reconciliation: Review and reconcile entry data against commercial documentation to ensure valuation, classification, and origin are perfectly aligned.
2. Internal Quality Audit (Pre-Accounting)
The "Second Set of Eyes": Conduct systematic internal audits of CADs before they are finalized, catching clerical errors or systemic data gaps before they reach the general ledger.
Discrepancy Control: Identify trends in entry errors and work to resolve them at the source, ensuring the integrity of our client’s trade data.
Audit Readiness: Maintain meticulously organized digital files and records for all adjustments and voluntary disclosures.
3. Operational Support
CERS & PGA Management: Manage the administrative submission of Canadian export declarations (CERS) and assist in preparing permit applications for Participating Government Agencies (CFIA, NRCAN, GAC).
CARM Administration: Facilitate daily maintenance within the CARM Client Portal (CCP), including managing delegated authority workflows and account reconciliation.
Additional Support: Perform other duties as assigned in support of operational and compliance objectives.
Professional Expectations
Nimble Execution: The ability to pivot seamlessly between routine admin tasks and high-priority internal audit reviews.
Humble Excellence: A commitment to the "heavy lifting" of compliance—finding satisfaction in clean data and 100% filing accuracy.
Operational Reliability: Serving as the dependable backbone of the operations team, ensuring no detail is overlooked before final accounting.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 3–5 years of hands-on experience in Canadian customs brokerage operations or a technical compliance role.
Technical Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of the Customs Act and the CARM portal. You must be comfortable navigating the Customs Tariff and various OGD/PGA requirements.
Designations: A CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) designation is required.
The LCB Advantage: A valid Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) / Qualified Person designation is considered a strong asset and qualifies the successful candidate for a $5,000 annual salary premium.
Systems: Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables) for data reconciliation and experience with modern brokerage software.
Compensation
Base Salary Band: $65,000 – $75,000 CAD (commensurate with experience)
LCB Premium: Additional $5,000 per annum for a valid Licensed Customs Broker designation.
Working Environment: 100% Remote (Canada).
