Job Description
A Top Loader Operator is responsible for operating heavy machinery designed to load, stack, and move containers, cargo, or materials in a port, terminal, warehouse, or yard. This role requires expertise in operating the equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to operational guidelines, and ensuring smooth cargo movement. Bilingual English & Spanish
Key Responsibilities:
Operate top loader machinery to load, unload, and stack containers or cargo safely.
Position containers precisely on trucks, trailers, or storage areas.
Ensure loads are balanced and secured properly during handling.
Conduct pre-operation safety checks on the top loader to ensure it is in good working condition.
Follow all workplace safety guidelines, including weight limits and movement protocols.
Report equipment malfunctions or safety hazards promptly.
Organize and relocate containers or materials in a designated sequence for efficient operations.
Verify container numbers, cargo types, and placements against operational plans.
Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs, such as checking fluid levels and inspecting hydraulic systems.
Keep the top loader clean and operational, reporting any issues requiring further technical support.
Communicate with yard supervisors, drivers, and other equipment operators to ensure smooth operations.
Follow instructions from ground staff or logistics teams regarding container placement.
Collaborate with team members to resolve operational challenges.

Skills and Qualifications:
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in operating top loaders or similar heavy machinery.
Understanding of container handling processes and safety guidelines.
Attention to Detail:
Ability to handle cargo with precision and ensure correct placement.
Communication Skills:
Clear verbal and radio communication with team members.
Physical Stamina:
Capability to perform in physically demanding environments, including prolonged sitting and operation.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience operating heavy machinery in a port, yard, or warehouse environment.
Certification or training in heavy equipment operation (e.g., top loader, forklift, crane).
Familiarity with cargo operations and safety protocols.
Working Conditions:
Outdoor work, often exposed to varying weather conditions.
Physically demanding role requiring extended periods of sitting, climbing, and repetitive movements.
