Transitional Kindergarten Aide
Year-Round, Hourly, Non-Exempt
Reports to: Assistant Principal
Job Summary: The Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Aide is responsible for working with teachers and students to help facilitate learning in the classroom that focuses on developmentally appropriate early learning practices. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with peers, teachers, and students, have a deep commitment to helping the overall development of each individual child, and uphold Grow Academy school culture at all times. Responsibilities will include:
Assisting and reinforcing with student self-regulation, independence, and instruction in the classroom setting
Supporting students in their overall development including social-emotional skills, school readiness skills, and motor skills
Communicating with students using language appropriate to the student’s level of understanding
Demonstrate to students the manner in which tasks are performed
Assist teacher in supervising students both in and out of the classroom
Supporting the teacher in a variety of duties including small group instruction, attending to students who need special attention
Attend regular Professional Development with Teachers
Assist with parent conferences/home visits as needed
Support students’ self-care and independence with toileting and hygiene routines in a developmentally appropriate, safe, and respectful manner, in accordance with network policies and health guidelines
Other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
A.A. degree or equivalent preferred
Experience with early childhood education practices
Experience working with ELL students a plus
Fluency in Spanish preferred

The employee is occasionally required to push, move, lift or otherwise bear up to 10 pounds, and occasionally up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision. Specific hearing abilities are required by this job.
Work Environment: This position is in-person, in instructional facilities located in Kern County.
