POSITION OVERVIEW
This role provides hands-on, floor-based therapy assistance for the qualified NAPA therapists.
All therapists at NAPA Centre provide skillful intervention to infants, toddlers, children, and adolescents with disorders that affect the development of motor and behavioural skills within the professional scope of practice. The role will require all therapy aides to work as part of a multidisciplinary team to support the delivery of these interventions. It is expected that each aide work with a qualified therapist, not independently. Aides will at all times follow the direction and instruction of the therapist, to ensure safe lifting and movement of both child and therapist whilst sessions are conducted.
This role also supports the upkeep of the clinic and will include some organisation of resources/toys and cleaning of resources. It will also include some clerical/administration-based tasks to support the running of intensive programs and the day-to-day needs of interventions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide second assist/spotting support to therapist as delegated by TA coordinator (in collaboration with Department Managers and Clinical Director).
Support with motivating and encouraging clients during sessions to maximise their participation and engagement.
Assist the treating therapist to deliver their interventions through supporting the child engaging cognitively but also physically when required (e.g., through supporting with different handling positions, etc.).
Supporting the safety of all parties during treatment sessions.
Regular cleaning and disinfecting of treatment areas, equipment, and toys.
Organisation of clinic or treatment supplies to keep them in order. This includes therapy resources required for specific disciplines.
Clerical duties as required by the clinic – may include uploading client files and documents into ELMO, scanning documents as required and supporting with any Ad Hoc admin duties (e.g. certificate and t-shirt preparation).
Develop rapport with clients to build a relationship of trust and mutual respect.
Act in accordance with all company, legal and industry policies and ethics.
REQUIREMENTS
Current Working with Children Check & Police Check.
CPR and First Aid certificates.
Good Physical health and fitness, and the ability to lift up to 22 kg, extended periods of standing and/or sitting on the floor.
Possess general knowledge of child development and an interest in supporting clients reach their goals.
Demonstrate a proactive nature and an ability to be proactive with identifying productive tasks around the clinic (like organising, assisting with sessions where a therapist may need support etc).
Able to create a safe, professional, and supportive environment where clients, families and colleagues feel empowered to succeed.
Ability to communicate confidently and effectively with clients and colleagues (clinical and admin teams).
Display a level of professional empathy towards clients and the ability to develop rapport.
Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with clients and their families.
Team player who can demonstrate the values for working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to advance a client’s needs.

Varied dependant on the therapy aide and clinic requirements.
