What is the opportunity

AstraZeneca is looking to identify and recruit top talent who are committed to living our values – following the science, putting patients first, and doing the right thing.

As a TA Lead will be responsible for providing specialist advice to a single area of Medical Affairs - eg Compliance, medical excellence, pharmaco-economics. May also be a more unique role responsible for multiple areas of Medical Affairs. Role holder will be deemed a specialist in their field, and will be expected to input into significant, important decisions and projects, typically on a multi-country or local level. May also manage junior Medical Affairs roles.

Typical Accountabilities

Acts as a country or regional expert supporting the Medical Affairs function and project teams within area of expertise

• Acts as the senior technical expert and source of knowledge in area of expertise

• Defines and delivers training for junior members of the team

• Contributes to establishing and implementing policies, procedures and standards for own work and work of others, ensuring compliance with internal and external standards and regulations

• Works closely with senior Medical Affairs colleagues to execute the Medical Affairs strategy within area of specialism

• Accountable for specialised research or delivery of internal reports for use in internal and external meetings

• Ensures own knowledge and knowledge of team members of best practices and new relevant developments is up to date

• Represents to AstraZeneca in all those interactions that require the exchange of knowledge with the scientific and medical community.

• Develops and strengthens mutually collaborative interactions and relationships within the scientific leadership for scientific medical audience of interest to the therapeutic area.

• Provides scientific and strategic support for creation and implementation of brand plans in charge.

Personnel management

• Participates actively in the recruitment of MSLs by medical team

• Is responsible for the selection and development of MSLs by therapeutic area in charge in accordance with the Job Description of MSL.

• Manages and promotes of performance the MSL of the therapeutic area in charge in the following objectives

• Precise and balanced management of available scientific data, AZ scientific relationship model (SEM, currently), interactions with KEE-EE, programs and activities.

• Carries out fieldwork and one-to-one coaching meetings with MSLs in charge (15% of time in field).

• Develops and updates the necessary training for performance and improvement of capabilities of MSL team in charge.

• Retains and develops talent with high-performance in the team daily.

Essential

• Bachelor’s Degree

• Detailed knowledge or experience within the pharmaceutical industry in rare diseases or high specialty

Project and relationship management experience

Fluent in English
