We are looking for two energetic, customer-focused team members to join our NBS Theatre team in Westport. The theatre assistant role is a varied, hands-on role where no two days look the same – perfect for someone who thrives in a creative, community-centered environment.
You’ll be part of the team that keeps our theatre and cinema running smoothly, ensuring every visitor enjoys a welcoming, inclusive, and vibrant experience.

What Will You Do? | Ka aha koe?
Key responsibilities will include:
Deliver exceptional customer service and support patrons across theatre and cinema operations
Coordinate bookings, ticketing, and event administration with accuracy and professionalism
Assist promoters and event organisers to ensure smooth, successful shows
Operate cinema systems, schedule films, and support basic technical tasks
Handle food preparation, retail sales, and maintain stock levels
Create and share marketing content across social media, website, and print channels
Monitor and respond to online engagement to build community connection
Support cleaning duties to maintain a tidy, welcoming facility
Provide financial support including cash handling, coding invoices, and purchase orders
Contribute positively to team culture and adapt to changing needs across Westport (and Reefton when required)

We are looking for someone with:
Essential:
Excellent verbal and written communication
Strong time management and multitasking skills
Customer-focused mindset with the ability to manage competing demands
Confident computer skills and ability to follow processes
Conflict resolution skills
Financial understanding
Flexibility with hours
The right to work in New Zealand and a full driver’s licence
Duty Manager Licence (or ability to obtain)
Desirable:
Experience with volunteers or community development
Knowledge of health & safety legislation
Cinema/theatre or projector experience
Working at Heights qualification (or willingness to obtain)
