Our Profile
In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.
The Telehandler Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating a telescopic handler to support construction activities at the gold mining site. The role ensures materials are lifted, moved, and placed in accordance with project requirements, while maintaining compliance with safety standards, site policies, and operational efficiency to support the successful execution of the construction phase.
Key Responsibilities
Operate telehandler equipment to move, lift, and position materials, tools, and equipment as directed.
Conduct pre-operational checks, inspections, and routine maintenance on the telehandler to ensure safety and reliability.
Assist in loading and unloading deliveries, ensuring proper handling and placement of materials.
Work closely with site supervisors, riggers, and other operators to ensure tasks are executed safely and efficiently.
Maintain clear communication with ground personnel using hand signals or radio communication.
Follow and enforce all site safety procedures, including the use of PPE and adherence to company policies.
Report defects, hazards, or incidents immediately to supervisors.
Ensure equipment is parked, secured, and stored safely when not in use.
Support general construction tasks when telehandler operations are not required.
Qualifications/Skills and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
Technical certification would be an asset.
Strong awareness of safe lifting, rigging, and load-handling techniques.
Ability to work in remote mining environments and adapt to challenging site conditions.
Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions from supervisors.
Strong teamwork and coordination with construction crews.
Physically fit and able to work in outdoor, rugged, and high-risk environments.
Commitment to safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.
Working Conditions
Position based at the OKO Project site.
Work Schedule – 14 days on/7 days Off
Transport, accommodations, and meals provided on sit
Compensation Package
1-year contract for the construction period, with the possibility of a permanent position once the mine is in operation.
