AECOM is seeking a Technologist - Transport Planning to be based in South Africa's Enterprise Capabilities office in Cape Town. This position will support a team locally based in South Africa and Global Teams. Here is what you will be doing:
As a Technologist in our Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering Team, you will be responsible for undertaking specialised analysis and developing traffic / transportation designs on a diverse array of infrastructure projects. These projects will encompass major roads, public transport systems, non-motorized transport, railway corridors, ports and harbours, as well as urban developments across Africa and beyond. 
Technical Excellence:
• Contributes to the development of technical proposals.
• Develops design by gathering, correlating and analysing engineering data using computer software and established procedures and standards.
• When possible, collects and analyses information from discipline and interdisciplinary project models.
• Develops the design content by applying both design and technical knowledge to ensure the production of high-quality outputs by following project timelines.
• Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations, specifications, sketches, diagrams, specific discipline models, drawings, reports and tender documents.
• Identifies discrepancies in results and proposes an approach to solving new problems encountered. Performs work under the agreed-upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.
• Coordinates with other team members as applicable for the design process's continuity.
• Maintains and develops the highest level of technical skills and abilities, ensuring the quality of production for accuracy to design instructions.                                                               
Client Relationship Management:
• Begins to participate in client meetings to discuss project requirements, explain/defend work, etc.
• Participates in the development and preparation of bids and proposals.
Here is what we are looking for:
• BTech Degree an accredited Institution.
• A minimum of 4 to 8 years of experience in a similar role within the built environment is essential.
• Post graduate qualification advantageous.
• Registered as a Candidate Technologist with ECSA
• Proven experience in transportation planning studies, traffic analysis and modelling, as well as the design of transportation and traffic infrastructure.
• Familiarity with transport modelling software (e.g., PTV, SIDRA, Synchro), GIS applications, design/drafting software (e.g. AutoDesk, Civil 3D, Bentley) is advantageous.
• Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to interpret data and effectively present findings.
• Capacity to deliver high quality work and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
