Salary Range: $65,000-$78,000

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Technical Writer to support the Naval Postgraduate School’s Extended Campus programs. This role focuses on producing high‑quality written materials—including technical documents, reports, publications, and communication products—that support academic, instructional, and institutional needs. The ideal candidate brings strong writing, editing, and quality‑assurance experience, along with the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced academic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Write, edit, proofread, and review technical and academic documents.

• Prepare publications, reports, white papers, fact sheets, and other written materials.

• Ensure clarity, accuracy, consistency, and adherence to quality‑assurance standards.

• Support the development of multimedia content, web features, press releases, and newsletter articles.

• Collaborate with faculty, staff, and subject‑matter experts to gather information and translate it into clear, accessible written content.

• Maintain version control, documentation, and editorial workflows.

Required Qualifications

• 3 years of experience in technical writing, proofreading, editing, publication, review, and quality assurance.

• BA/BS degree in communications, journalism, English, or a related discipline.

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Desired Qualifications

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Experience in technical or scientific writing.

• Demonstrated ability to independently research, write, and edit materials such as white papers, fact sheets, multimedia content, web features, press releases, and newsletter articles.

• Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.

Additional Information

• This position requires onsite work at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA.

• U.S. Citizenship is required for clearance eligibility.
