POSITION SUMMARY:
Our Publications Department is seeking a co-op student to join us for a summer work term from May to August 2026. In this role, you will research and revise service manual information. You will review, revise and/or create new procedural documents. You will also assist the publishing team by performing other publishing tasks when required.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
• Perform research and revising of technical content based on new or changed information.
• Assist in the development of new technical information by extracting, creating, rewriting and transforming complex source data into New Flyer / MCI manual content.
• Assist the writing team by reviewing and performing standard procedures in the effort to revise and or create new procedures as tasked by the Publications Manager.
• Follow departmental technical writing and publishing practices and procedures.
• Report and supply possible solutions for any manual content problems or deficiencies encountered during a project.
• Prepare shipping documentation and shipments of all Publication’s projects, and effectively track projects for proper delivery.
• Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
• Currently enrolled in a post-secondary technical program such as in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or Technical Communications.
• Excellent command of English language both written and oral.
• Ability to interpret engineering design source data, drawings.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Excellent knowledge of standard computer business applications such as MS Office
• Experience writing instructional information such as technical user guides and service manuals is an asset.
• Knowledge of automotive or heavy equipment vehicle systems including hydraulic, mechanical or electrical is a plus.
• Computer publishing knowledge and skills in applications such as Adobe FrameMaker, InDesign and Adobe Acrobat.
