We are on the lookout for a technical team leader to lead a team that provide operational, administration and technical support to the Simulation Centre for Patient Safety, Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, at the University of Auckland. The Simulation Centre for Patient Safety (SCPS) provides for the healthcare simulation needs of students and a wide range of healthcare professionals, with the ability to provide outreach activities at clinical sites. Their goal is to improve patient safety through simulation-based education and research.

You will liaise directly with stakeholders, convenors, course directors and course coordinators to provide specialist and substantive support for academics and students on a variety of teaching and research activities at the Simulation Centre for Patient Safety (SCPS).

• Managing the operational, administration and technical support of the SCPS.
• Providing leadership, mentoring and direction for the technical support team
• Assisting the development, implementation and delivery of practical clinical simulation training programmes and external workshops to professional colleagues.
• Making technical recommendations to internal and external stakeholders on creating and delivering external courses and workshops to support continued evolvement of teaching.
• Providing day to day oversight of the effective upkeep, safe operation, and logistical management of the learning spaces to deliver an excellent student experience at the SCPS.
• Collaborating with teaching staff and other technical services teams at the Faculty and working towards continuous improvement processes to enhance positive teaching and learning experiences at SCPS.

This is a full time (37.5 hours per week), fixed term position until the end of 2026.

The remuneration range for this role is between $87,000 - $107,500 depending on skills and experience.

You will bring:

• Tertiary qualification in a health-science, or related field.
• Proven experience in leading a services team, preferably in a primary health care or tertiary education organisation setting.
• Demonstrated ability to work with a range of staff at all levels within a complex organisation, preferably tertiary education/university environment.
• Management experience in a healthcare or education setting.
• Experience in explaining and resolving difficult technical issues
• Demonstrable experience in coaching and mentoring
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent computer and finance literacy
