Position Summary:
Wasauksing First Nation is accepting applications for a Technical Support Coordinator The Technical Support Coordinator provides essential operational and administrative
backbone to the Social Services department. This position focuses on the
technicalities of governance: managing complex funding requirements, ensuring
policy compliance, and streamlining the reporting structures that keep vital
community programs running. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between grassroots community needs and the rigorous requirements of government and non-profit funders, ensuring our services are sustainable, transparent, and culturally aligned.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Monitor departmental budgets and track expenditures against provincial and federal funding agreements (e.g., ISC, Jordan's Principle).
Coordinate with the Finance Department to prepare for annual audits and financial reviews.
Analyze financial data to identify trends, potential shortfalls, or opportunities for resource reallocation.
Research and identify new funding streams from government, private foundations, and non-profit sectors.
Lead the development of high-quality grant applications and proposals.
Maintain a funding calendar; to ensure all application and renewal deadlines are met.
Synthesize data from various programs to create comprehensive quarterly and annual reports for Chief and Council, community members, and external funders.
Act as the primary point of contact for external program evaluators and government monitors.
Draft and update departmental Policy and Procedure manuals to ensure alignment with current legislation and community bylaws.
Review existing social service frameworks to ensure they are trauma-informed and culturally safe.
Provide technical briefings to leadership on the impact of new provincial or federal policies.
Assist Program Managers in designing new initiatives, from logic models to implementation schedules.
Perform other duties as necessary
Coordinate planning sessions to ensure programs meet the strategic goals of the Wasauksing Strategic Plan.
Develop standardized templates and workflows to improve internal efficiency across social service teams.
Adhere to all policies and procedures of Wasauksing First Nation and any other relevant policies and procedures from external agencies and partners.
Education & Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical administrative or coordinator role within a First Nations Band Office, Indigenous non-profit, or government agency.
Degree or Diploma in Public Administration, Social Work, Business Administration, or a related field.
Deep understanding of Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) funding models and the unique jurisdictional landscape of First Nations social services.
Proficiency in advanced Excel (for budget tracking), project management software, and data management systems.
Other Requirements:
An understanding of the historical and contemporary issues affecting First Nations communities.
The ability to translate complex technical requirements into clear, persuasive grant applications and policy documents.
A commitment to working in a way that honors community relationships and traditional protocols.
