Overall purpose and responsibilities of the role:

A Technical Application Engineer is responsible for combining technical knowledge with sales skills to provide solutions to customers and drive revenue. This role involves understanding complex products, explaining them to clients, and ensuring they meet the customer’s needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Sales & Business Development

• Identify potential customers and generate leads.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients.
• Negotiate and close sales deals.

2. Technical Consultation & Support

• Provide pre-sales technical assistance, including product demonstrations.
• Understand customer requirements and recommend suitable products or solutions.
• Offer post-sales support, after-sales support, troubleshooting, and technical training.

3. Collaboration with Teams

• Work closely with engineering, R&D, and product teams to address customer needs.
• Serve as the operational link between PH team and engineering team in Malaysia, including other factories globally, for technical drawings, configuration adjustments, and clarifications.

4. Proposal & Documentation

• Coordinate with marketing teams for product promotions.
• Prepare technical proposals, quotations, and contracts.

5. Sales Support & Inside-Sales Functions

• Support (four) sales segments by preparing quotations and assisting with PO creation volume targets; 24 hours if it is within the price list and 2-3 days if requested to the factory); and help with the conversion of PO to sales order
• Perform inside-sales tasks, including identifying new customers and conducting initial qualification before turnover to sales reps.

6. On-Site Technical Presence (When required)

• Join sales reps during client visits when deeper technical expertise is needed.
• Conduct on-site product suitability checks (fit, medium compatibility, application suitability).

7. Business Operations Support

• Assist in redistributing workload so sales engineers spend more time in the field (50% outside work expectation for sales team).
• Help evaluate cross-segment product applicability when sales reps lack full technical knowledge.


Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering), and prior
• Minimum 2–3 years relevant experience preferred.
• Experience in the pump industry is highly prefered, but can also consider candidates from adjacent industries such as HVAC / Mechanical Systems, Industrial Automation / Electrical Systems, Building Management / MEP Solutions and Energy / Renewable Energy Systems.
• Strong technical understanding of the product.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
• Customer relationship management.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to travel for on-site checks and client visits when needed.
