SMX is seeking a Mid-Level Technical Project Manager to support the Secretary of the Air Force (SAF)/Office of Competitive Activities Concept Development Management Office (SAF/OCA), Concepts Project Office (CPO). The ideal candidate will have experience supporting program and project management activities within a Department of War (DoW) environment, including acquisition support, action tracking, documentation management, stakeholder coordination, and executive reporting.
This position provides direct support to a Senior Technical Project Manager and requires regular interaction with program management personnel, contracting staff, technical teams, and Government stakeholders.
This position requires a DoD TS/SCI which requires US citizenship for work on DoD contracts.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Support the Senior TPM in planning, coordinating, and executing assigned projects and taskings
• Assist in documenting and facilitating communication between cross-functional groups, capture and track requirements and action items
• Develop and maintain detailed project trackers, schedules, and work breakdown inputs to ensure timely execution
• Maintain integrated master schedule inputs and monitor milestone progress
• Track project scope, schedule, and risk items; elevate issues to Senior TPM as appropriate
• Prepare draft plans, assessments, executive summaries, and briefing materials in support of the SAF/OC mission
• Compile Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and assist in tracking performance metrics
• Support risk management efforts by documenting risks, mitigation strategies, and follow-up actions
• Schedule and document meetings, including agendas, minutes, and action items
• Support cross-functional coordination efforts across contracting, finance, security, and technical teams
• Archive and maintain acquisition documentation (PWS, IGCE, J&A, acquisition plans, contract modifications, approvals, RFPs, SOWs, DD Form 254, interagency agreements, etc.)
• Maintain version control of acquisition artifacts and ensure proper document governance
• Ensure documentation is properly stored in SharePoint or designated Government repositories
• Track signature routing and approval status for acquisition and program documentation
• Support milestone documentation across procurement phases
• Monitor suspense dates and track actions through completion to ensure accountability
• Provide regular status updates to leadership on project progress, outstanding actions, and emerging risks
• Use government provided Generative AI tools on a day-to-day basis to accelerate research, documentation, analysis, reporting, and problem solving. Continuously adapt to evolving AI capabilities and recommend improvements to processes and practices
Required Skills & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree
• 1–8 years of experience supporting DoW program or project management environments
• Experience supporting acquisition documentation and contract-related artifacts
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to operate in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while supporting multiple concurrent efforts
• Experience coordinating with cross-functional teams and tracking actions to closure
• Proficiency with Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Strong communication skills
Desired Skills & Experience
• Experience supporting executive-level reporting and briefing development
• Familiarity with SAF/OC, Air Force concepts development, digital modernization, or related mission areas

The proposed salary for this position is:
$135,000—$180,000 USD
