About the role
The Technical Product Owner (TPO) is responsible for defining, prioritising, and delivering technical product capabilities that power Sigma Groups global event platforms, including major iGaming events. This role bridges engineering, product strategy, and business needs, ensuring that technical solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with organisational goals.
A key part of the role is driving the introduction of AI tooling across teams and supporting the development of AI‑powered products and services that enhance attendee engagement, exhibitor value, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Product Vision & Backlog Ownership
Owns and maintains the technical product backlog, ensuring clarity, prioritisation, and alignment with business objectives.
Translates business requirements into detailed technical user stories and acceptance criteria.
Works closely with engineering teams to ensure feasibility, scalability, and technical excellence.
Defines and communicate the technical product vision to stakeholders and leadership.
Technical Requirements & Architecture Alignment
Collaborates with architects, engineers, and platform teams to ensure solutions align with architectural standards.
Breaks down complex technical problems into actionable development tasks.
Ensures integrations, APIs, data flows, and backend systems support product goals.
Participates in technical design discussions and provide product‑driven input.
AI Tooling & AI‑Driven Product Enablement
Leads the introduction of AI tooling to improve engineering, product, and operational workflows, including:
AI‑assisted development and testing
automated analytics and reporting
intelligent monitoring and diagnostics
Supports the development of AI‑powered product features such as:
personalised event recommendations
AI‑driven matchmaking between attendees and exhibitors
automated content generation and summarisation
predictive insights for event performance
Ensures AI features follow responsible‑AI principles and comply with data‑privacy requirements.
Delivery Leadership & Agile Execution
Acts as the primary liaison between engineering teams and business stakeholders.
Leads sprint planning, backlog grooming, and daily stand‑ups to ensure smooth delivery.
Removes blockers, clarify requirements, and ensure teams have what they need to execute.
Tracks progress, manage risks, and ensure timely delivery of high‑quality releases.
Events & iGaming Platform Support
Develops technical capabilities tailored to live events and iGaming audiences, including:
real‑time data processing
high‑traffic scalability
exhibitor and sponsor integrations
mobile and web platform enhancements
Ensure systems are event‑ready and resilient during peak usage.
Data‑Driven Decision Making
Uses analytics, telemetry, and user feedback to inform prioritisation and product improvements.
Defines and track KPIs for technical performance, reliability, and feature adoption.
Partners with data teams to ensure insights are actionable and accessible.
Stakeholder Management & Communication
Communicates technical product updates, timelines, and risks to executives and cross‑functional teams.
Builds strong relationships with engineering, design, marketing, and event operations.
Ensures stakeholder expectations are aligned with technical realities.
Qualifications
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of software development, APIs, cloud platforms, and system integrations
Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements
Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and AI‑powered product capabilities
Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder‑management skills
Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
Experience working in fast‑paced, event‑driven environments
Understanding of iGaming platforms and digital engagement patterns is a plus
Preferred Experience
Educated to degree level in a numerate or technical discipline, Masters preferred.
5–7+ years of technical experience in product ownership, software development, engineering, or related fields
2–3+ years of management or leadership experience, such as leading product teams or technical delivery initiatives
Proven track record of delivering complex technical products in agile environments
Experience introducing AI tooling or supporting AI‑enabled product development
Background working with event platforms, mobile apps, or iGaming systems
Experience collaborating with distributed or hybrid teams
