Job Description
As Technical Procurement Specialist – PCBs / Electronics, you will own the end-to-end procurement of printed circuit boards (PCBs) from contract manufacturers (CMs). You’ll sit at the intersection of engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing: translating technical requirements into clear supplier packages, negotiating cost and lead time, and making sure the right boards show up, on time, at the right quality.
This role is ideal for someone who understands how PCBs are actually made (stackups, materials, tolerances, DFM) and enjoys the commercial and operational side of getting things built at scale.
What is your Day to Day Mission:
• Own PCB procurement end-to-end – from RFQ and quote analysis through PO creation, order tracking, delivery, and closure.
• Translate engineering needs into supplier-ready data – review BOMs, Gerbers, stackups, drawings, and specifications to ensure CMs have complete and correct information.
• Manage contract manufacturers – build strong relationships, align on capabilities and capacity, and drive performance on cost, quality, lead time, and responsiveness, including on-site visits of contract manufacturers
• Optimize cost and lead time – run competitive RFQs, analyze trade-offs (volume, lead time, technology level), and negotiate pricing and terms with CMs.
• Mitigate supply and technical risks – monitor material availability (e.g. laminates, copper weights, finishes), propose alternates, and escalate issues before they become schedule slips.
• Support NPI and engineering changes – coordinate production ramp-up, manage ECO impacts on PCB procurement, and ensure smooth transitions from prototype to volume.
• Ensure quality and compliance – work closely with QA/engineering to address nonconformances, track supplier performance, and ensure boards meet required standards (e.g. IPC, customer specs).
• Keep everything organized and visible – maintain accurate data in ERP/MRP and tracking tools, provide clear status updates, and keep stakeholders aligned on dates and risks.
