Quick Summary

Syngenta Seeds is a leading seed developer and producer of high-quality seeds for farmers, commercial growers, retailers and small seed companies.

Job Description

Syngenta Seeds is one of the world’s largest developers and producers of seed for farmers, commercial growers, retailers and small seed companies. Syngenta seeds improve the quality and yields of crops. High-quality seeds ensure better and more productive crops, which is why farmers invest in them. Advanced seeds help mitigate risks such as disease and drought and allow farmers to grow food using less land, less water and fewer inputs.

Syngenta Seeds brings farmers more vigorous, stronger, resistant plants, including innovative hybrid varieties and biotech crops that can thrive even in challenging growing conditions.

Syngenta Seeds is headquartered in the United States.

The Technical Marketing Lead is responsible for developing and executing technical marketing strategies that enhance the positioning, value proposition, and adoption of Syngenta’s seed and trait products. This role bridges agronomic research, product development, and commercial execution, ensuring that Syngenta’s hybrid rice and corn portfolio is backed by robust data, compelling technical messaging, and impactful field demonstration programs. Furthermore, this role also plays a pivotal part in driving Syngenta’s market leadership by ensuring that technical excellence translates into clear, farmer-centric value propositions and competitive differentiation.

Agronomic Research and Product Recommendation Development

• Prioritize and support the development of agronomic research protocols to generate data for product positioning and grower recommendations.
• Work closely with the ATS Manager and Portfolio Manager to design and implement field trials for new hybrids and trait technologies, ensuring relevant comparisons against competitor products.
• Translate trial results into clear agronomic positioning and product recommendations for different market segments and environmental conditions.

Syngenta Learning Centers (Field of Innovation and Technology, FIT Centers)

• Provide strategic direction for the design and implementation of Field of Innovation and Technology (FIT) centers for both rice and corn.
• Ensure FITs effectively demonstrate product differentiation, focusing on key agronomic practices, pest control benefits (e.g., VIP trait for FAW control), and yield performance.
• Collaborate with the agronomy and commercial teams to align FITs with go-to-market campaigns and farmer education initiatives.

Technical Value Proposition Development

• Lead the development of technical value propositions for new seed and trait products in collaboration with the ATS Manager and Portfolio Manager.
• Craft scientifically backed messaging that clearly communicates the advantages of Syngenta’s hybrids and traits compared to competitors like Dekalb and Pioneer.
• Develop and/or vet technical content for commercial teams, sales materials, training programs, and marketing campaigns.

Data Management and Scientific Communication

• Manage and analyze agronomic trial data from field plots, demo farms, and partner institutions to extract meaningful insights.
• Transform scientific findings into compelling technical communications, including grower guides, product positioning reports, and commercial training materials.
• Support commercial teams by providing technical training and coaching on product agronomy, trait technology benefits, and competitive product differentiation.

Support Market Development and Technical Training

• Work closely with sales teams to provide technical training, ensuring clear understanding and articulation of product benefits in the field.
• Develop and deliver trainings for internal teams, channel partners, and key farmers, covering agronomic best practices, trait technology benefits, and product use recommendations.
• Partner with brand and campaign managers to integrate technical insights into marketing and promotional strategies.

Seeds and Traits Commercial Product Stewardship

• Ensure responsible use of Syngenta’s trait technologies by developing and implementing stewardship programs aligned with global best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Lead Insect Resistance Management programs to sustain the efficacy of VIP technology and other Syngenta traits, working closely with agronomy, sales, IRM Science, and regulatory teams.
• Develop and disseminate IRM guidelines to growers and distribution partners, ensuring the correct use of refuge strategies, crop rotation, and integrated pest management (IPM) practices.
• Monitor and analyze trait performance and potential resistance development, providing recommendations for risk mitigation strategies.
• Engage with regulatory agencies, industry associations, and research institutions to align Syngenta’s stewardship efforts with national and international standards.
• Support commercial teams with training and communication materials that emphasize the importance of trait stewardship in sustaining long-term product efficacy and grower benefits.

Competitive Intelligence and External Collaboration

• Monitor and analyze competitor product performance, agronomic positioning, and trait launches to refine Syngenta’s technical positioning.
• Engage with industry experts, research institutions, and universities to stay at the forefront of seed technology and agronomic advancements.
• Represent Syngenta in scientific and technical forums, contributing insights on hybrid performance, trait efficacy, and sustainable agronomic practices.

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agronomy, Plant Science, Agricultural Engineering, or related fields.
• Experience: 5+ years in technical agronomy, product development, or technical marketing in the seed or crop protection industry.
• Strong analytical skills with experience in field trial data interpretation and scientific communication.
• Knowledge of hybrid corn and rice agronomy, trait technologies, and products stewardship.
• Ability to translate technical insights into impactful commercial messaging.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills to work cross-functionally with marketing, sales, agronomy, and external partners.
