Role Overview
The Technical Manager (SCADA) is responsible for providing overall technical leadership and governance for SCADA systems in MRT / rail projects, from system concept and design through integration, testing, commissioning, and handover. This role ensures technical integrity, compliance with rail standards, and effective coordination across engineering teams, vendors, and customers, while supporting successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Governance
• Lead and oversee the technical design, architecture, and integration of SCADA systems for MRT projects.
• Act as the technical authority for SCADA, PLC, and related control systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications, rail standards, and safety requirements.
• Review, approve, and manage engineering deliverables including system architecture, interface designs, drawings, software designs, and technical documentation.
• Define and enforce technical standards, best practices, and QA/QC processes across the project lifecycle.
System Design, Integration & Delivery
• Oversee the implementation of SCADA/PLC systems from conceptual design through programming, integration, testing, and commissioning.
• Manage and coordinate hardware and software integration, including system interfaces with other railway subsystems (e.g. signaling, power, OCC, depot systems).
• Supervise Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and commissioning activities at factory and site locations.
• Ensure robust change management for application software, configurations, hardware deployment, and system upgrades.
Stakeholder & Project Interface
• Interface closely with customers, consultants, project managers, and internal teams on all technical matters.
• Support technical discussions, design reviews, technical workshops, and issue resolutions with clients and authorities.
• Provide clear technical input to support project planning, risk management, and problem resolution.
• Prepare and review technical reports, presentations, and compliance documentation.
Team Management & Capability Development
• Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and supervision to project engineers and engineering teams.
• Allocate and coordinate technical resources to meet project milestones and quality objectives.
• Drive knowledge sharing, lessons learned, and continuous improvement within the SCADA engineering team.
Troubleshooting & Risk Management
• Lead complex system troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of critical technical issues.
• Identify technical risks early and define mitigation strategies to minimize impact to schedule, cost, and system performance.
• Support maintenance, defect rectification, and system stabilization activities where required.
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronic Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum 8–12 years of experience in PLC/SCADA systems, with significant exposure to railway or MRT projects.
• Proven experience in technical leadership or lead engineer roles for large, complex SCADA or control systems.
• Strong knowledge of PLC/SCADA architectures, system integration, and interfaces in mission‑critical environments.
• Experience with PLC programming and safety‑critical system requirements.
• Proficient in Siemens and Schneider PLC platforms.
• Strong ability to read, review, and interpret electrical schematics, system architecture diagrams, and technical specifications.
• Excellent coordination, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Able to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and lead technical teams effectively.
