Our team of environmental professionals, biologists, archaeologists, and technicians works closely with clients across energy, infrastructure, forestry, utilities, renewables, and industrial sectors to deliver practical, cost-effective solutions that balance compliance, land stewardship, and project success.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated Technical Director to join our growing environmental practice. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in environmental consulting, with a strong focus on supporting oil and gas clients across diverse asset types and regulatory contexts.
As Technical Director, you will serve as the senior technical authority for the portfolio, providing expert review, guidance, and interpretation of environmental data, regulatory requirements, and technical methodologies. You will support Technical Advisors and project teams by ensuring technical defensibility, consistency, and alignment with regulatory expectations across all deliverables.
Role and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Provide expertise and technical input throughout all phases of environmental projects, ensuring alignment with our clients, regulatory frameworks and industry best practices.
Support the successful delivery of environmental projects by providing technical expertise from initiation through to completion. Collaborate with other technical advisors and project managers to ensure environmental scopes are well-defined for our clients, technically sound, and aligned with regulatory requirements.
Review and contribute to all technical deliverables and final sign off when required.
Ensure technical quality and defensibility of reports against environmental regulatory frameworks, regulations and guidelines.
Engage directly with client environmental specialists to build trust, collaborate on technical challenges, and work jointly toward defensible, practical environmental outcomes through open technical dialogue.
Regulatory Engagement & Compliance
Consult with regulatory agencies and stakeholders to clarify technical requirements and support permitting and approval processes.
Liaise with provincial regulators, municipalities, consultants, and internal stakeholders on environmental and compliance matters.
Monitor, interpret, and communicate regulatory changes across all jurisdictions of operation, assessing implications to projects, risk, and compliance, and integrating updates into technical guidance and project delivery.
Assist in identifying project risks and mitigation strategies related to environmental compliance and site conditions.
Field Oversight, Mentorship & Capability Building
Provide technical mentorship to junior and intermediate staff, supporting the application of appropriate methodologies, regulatory interpretation, and sound technical judgement.
Serve as a technical resource to the team by promoting consistent standards, sharing best practices, and supporting professional development through knowledge transfer.
Conduct targeted site visits to review technical approaches, confirm data interpretation, and provide hands-on technical guidance where required.
Business Development, Proposals & Technical Writing
Participate in, or assign appropriate resources to, the development and review of technical approaches for industry proposal requests, ensuring solutions are innovative, technically sound, and aligned with client needs and regulatory expectations to support successful work capture.
Reviewing and preparing technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals that reflect innovation and technical excellence.
Qualifications:
