About the Role (your why)
This role sits within our data migration services team, which delivers client-facing solutions to ensure accurate, complete, and auditable transfers of customer data into new or upgraded systems. As a Technical Consultant (Data Migration), you will work on project and consulting engagements that focus on profiling, validating, transforming, and reconciling customer data. You’ll define and document migration rules, collaborate closely with customers to present findings, and support remediation activities. Your expertise will help reduce migration risk, improve data quality, and ensure smooth go-lives and handovers.

Our offices are based in any one of our NZ Locations. We like to bring people together in person when we can, but we are mindful of the benefits of working from home for work/ life balance. We therefore leave it to you and the team you join to figure out what works best!

What you’ll do
At the moment, as Technical Consultant (Data Migration) you will be focused on:

• Reviewing and profiling source data to understand structure, content, quality, and risk areas.
• Producing detailed data quality reports and identifying discrepancies or anomalies that could impact migration.
• Designing migration mappings and transformation rules from source to target systems.
• Collaborating with technical teams to implement transformation and validation rules using ETL/conversion scripts.
• Defining validation strategies, performing reconciliation checks, and supporting test migrations.
• Engaging customers to explain findings, guide remediation activities, and prioritise fixes.
• Producing migration reports and dashboards to track data quality and project readiness.
• Supporting cutover activities, running final reconciliations, and handing over documentation to operational teams.
• Contributing to continuous improvement of conversion methodologies, standards, and templates.

We are a pretty agile company, and are keen to respond to customer, technology and internal stakeholders’ changing requirements and this can mean we evolve in our roles to meet those needs.

What you’ll bring

Required experience:

• 3+ years’ experience in IT systems, systems design, integration, or consulting.
• Strong data analysis, data profiling, and reconciliation expertise.
• Advanced skills in SQL and other relevant programming languages.
• Proven analytical/problem-solving skills and ability to evaluate complex data factors.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to engage various stakeholders.

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of outsourced IT services and infrastructure project requirements.
• Experience with automation languages, DevOps tools, and delivery pipelines.
• Proven customer relationship management and influencing skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or related field.
• Industry certifications such as Red Hat RHCSA.
