Position Overview

The Technical Architect is responsible for defining and guiding the overall technical ecosystem that supports enterprise applications and platforms. This role focuses on cloud architecture, infrastructure design, system integrations, security patterns, and technology strategy. The Technical Architect works closely with Software Architects, Development Team Leads, DevOps, Infrastructure, Security, Product, and Delivery teams to ensure systems are scalable, secure, cost‑efficient, and aligned with organizational standards.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong communication, leadership, and systems thinking to drive architectural excellence across the engineering organization.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise & System Architecture

• Define and maintain the end‑to‑end technical architecture, covering cloud infrastructure, networking, integrations, hosting models, scalability, and security.

• Design and guide implementation of distributed systems, microservices, event‑driven architectures, and platform components.

• Develop reference architectures, integration patterns, and reusable technical frameworks for cross‑team adoption.

• Evaluate technical feasibility for new initiatives and support early-stage solution shaping.

Cloud Architecture & Infrastructure Engineering

• Architect scalable, secure, cost‑optimized cloud solutions in Azure (preferred) or other cloud platforms.

• Design infrastructure components including:

• Azure App Services

• Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)

• Functions, Logic Apps

• Service Bus / Event Hub

• Storage solutions

• Virtual networks, private endpoints, and firewalls

• Oversee Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Bicep, ARM, Terraform, or similar tools.

DevOps, CI/CD & Operational Excellence

• Collaborate with DevOps to architect robust pipelines covering build, test, quality gates, security scanning, and deployment automation.

• Ensure production environments support high availability, resilience, observability, and disaster recovery requirements.

• Define strategies for logging, monitoring, metrics, alerting (Application Insights, Azure Monitor, Prometheus/Grafana).

• Support incident investigations and lead architectural recommendations for long-term stability.

Security, Compliance & Governance

• Partner with Security teams to design identity, access, authentication, authorization, encryption, data protection, and threat mitigation patterns.

• Ensure compliance with organizational security policies and regulatory requirements.

• Define guardrails for secure coding, network segmentation, secrets management, and API protection.

Cross‑Functional Leadership & Collaboration

• Work with Software Architects to align application design with underlying infrastructure and system constraints.

• Collaborate with Product to validate technical feasibility and roadmap prioritization.

• Support Development Team Leads by providing guidance on system integrations, environment needs, and architectural dependencies.

• Communicate technical decisions clearly to non‑technical stakeholders, including risks, trade‑offs, and recommended solutions.

Standards & Continuous Improvement

• Establish and maintain architecture standards, best practices, and technology guidelines across teams.

• Conduct architecture reviews and provide recommendations for refactoring, performance improvements, and modernization.

• Evaluate emerging technologies and drive innovation, ensuring tech stack relevance.

Skills & Qualifications

Required

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, infrastructure engineering, or cloud architecture roles.

• Strong expertise with Azure cloud services, including compute, networking, identity, messaging, and data services.

• Hands-on experience architecting distributed systems, event-driven systems, microservices, or enterprise-scale applications.

• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps tooling, and environment management.

• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, ARM, Bicep).

• Solid knowledge of security principles (OAuth/OpenID Connect, encryption, network security).

• Excellent communication, documentation, analytical, and leadership skills.

Preferred

• Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes / AKS).

• Exposure to .NET/C# development or the Microsoft ecosystem.

• Understanding of API gateways, API Management, and service mesh concepts.

• Knowledge of relational and NoSQL datastores.

• Certifications such as:

• Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ‑305)

• Azure DevOps Engineer Expert

• TOGAF

• SAFe Architect (ARCH)
