THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE OFFERED AN HOURLY RATE OF $19.50.
The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services, and provides subsidized child care vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child maltreatment. In juvenile justice, ACS oversees detention, placement and programs for youth in the community.
The New York City (NYC) Administration for Children’s Services’ (ACS) Office of Information Technology (OIT) is responsible for providing high quality, reliable, and sustainable technology services, and support to meet the needs of the families and children we serve through ACS, its vendor partners and other City agencies. The Technical Support unit provides technical support for IT services to 7000 plus ACS users at 38 locations. There are on average, 60k service tickets processed by this unit annually.
OIT is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented IT Technical Support Undergraduate Intern to join our Bronx team. As an IT Technical Support Undergraduate Intern, you will gain practical experience in providing IT Technical Support for a large government organization consisting of approximately 7,000 employees across 38 locations. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to work alongside an IT Technical Support Unit to provide desktop support services for ACS Child Protective Specialists in all field locations, including desktop computers, laptops, printers, smart phones, tablets, conference room technologies, and database applications. Additionally, as a member of the 2026 ACS Summer Internship Program cohort, you will participate in an enrichment program designed to fully engage students into the ACS and NYC government experience. Internship programming includes professional development workshops, lunch and learns, speaker events, NYC government tours, and networking opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work alongside the IT Technical Support team to assist with identifying, diagnosing, and resolving technical problems related to personal computer hardware, software applications, and mobile devices at assigned site(s).
- Support members of the IT Technical Support team with hardware/ software/network technical assistance, and escalate tickets requiring support from experienced technicians, when required.
- Help with maintaining an inventory of IT hardware and software assets.
- Assist with moves that require uninstalling/installing, lifting, and packing/unpacking desktop computer equipment with peripherals.
- Assist with managing and prioritizing assigned workloads and updating problem tickets with detailed resolutions.
Learning Outcomes:
- Develop a strong understanding of IT service desk operations and learn how to use related software and hardware within a government environment.
- Gain hands-on experience in utilizing service desk software to manage and prioritize assigned workloads and update tickets with detailed resolutions.
- Strengthen abilities to coordinate and execute organizational tasks in a professional setting.
