Job Description
🤖 The Role
At Dataroots, our consulting services focus on designing and delivering data and AI-driven value. We’re looking for a Tech Lead for the Strategy & Analytics unit with a strong focus on Enablement.
This role is for a senior profile who combines technical depth with system-level thinking. Someone who enjoys working at the intersection of governance, enterprise data management, architecture, and operational models, and who wants to help organisations move from data chaos to clarity, consistency, and adoption.
You balance hands-on client delivery (60-80%) with leadership responsibilities, staying hands-on while taking ownership of the technical direction, quality, and long-term relevance of how we help organisations organise, govern, and scale their data & AI capabilities.
The focus of this role sits in the trust layer of data & AI. It covers enterprise data management (metadata and lineage, data quality, governance tooling, computational governance or policy-as-code), data & AI governance, information architecture, and the operating models that support data products and federated ways of working. From there, the role naturally connects to shaping operating models, governance frameworks, and adoption roadmaps, always linking technical and organisational choices back to business value.
You actively maintain deep and current expertise across this space. You follow regulatory evolutions, tooling landscapes, and architectural patterns closely, but you’re selective. You filter signals from noise and translate enablement concepts into practical, adoptable, and future-proof solutions for our clients.
🧭 What you'll actually do
• You act as the technical and strategic compass of the Enablement & Strategy capabilities. You define what “good” looks like in governance, enterprise data management, information architecture, and operating models, and how these should be applied consistently across projects.
• You stay active on client engagements, ensuring your guidance is grounded in real delivery. You act as a sparring partner and escalation point when governance setups, operating models, or architectural choices become complex, when delivery risks arise, or when organisations struggle with adoption and change.
• You provide operational technical support to the Business Unit and operational leads when needed. This can include reviewing delivery quality from an enablement perspective, supporting interview preparation, or helping address delivery or capability risks.
• You work closely with Competence Leads and Team Leads across Enablement. Together, you define quarterly priorities, identify capability gaps early, support learning paths and talent growth, and raise the overall quality bar without overengineering. You help move the practice away from one-offs by building reusable frameworks, reference architectures, governance patterns, and accelerators, such as governance playbooks, operating model blueprints, and enablement templates that teams can actually use.
• You support the assessment and ongoing maintenance of strategic partnerships, working in close collaboration with the Clients & Growth team. You help evaluate vendors, tools, and ecosystem partners from an enablement and delivery perspective, ensuring our partnerships remain relevant, credible, and aligned with our clients’ needs and our enablement offering.
• You support recruitment by participating in interviews, shaping assessment content, and defining what “good” looks like across roles and seniority levels for Enablement profiles, ensuring we attract people with the right mindset, foundations, and skills.
• You support technical and strategic pre-sales, contributing to proposals, client pitches, and scoping discussions. You help translate complex governance or strategy topics into clear value narratives that resonate with executives and delivery teams alike.
• You strengthen the Enablement community, both internally and externally. You support internal knowledge sharing and deep dives, contribute to RootsAcademy and RootsConf, and represent Dataroots through talks, blogs, events, or partnerships. Not for marketing’s sake, but to keep the practice sharp, relevant, and credible.
