Lead and support multi‑disciplinary teams responsible for delivering and sustaining application platforms and vendor solutions that enable Wellmark’s strategic initiatives. Accountable for solution delivery outcomes, system stability, and long‑term platform sustainability across assigned applications.
Ensure solutions adhere to enterprise architecture standards and quality expectations, are reliable in production, and are supported with appropriate operational practices. Collaborates to balance delivery speed, system health, and long‑term risk reduction.
Actively identify and influence opportunities to improve performance, reliability, security, and cost efficiency through technology and process improvements. Translate technical risks and dependencies into clear business impacts to support informed prioritization and roadmap decisions.
Provide servant leadership and coaching to application teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Develop team capability through mentoring, skill development, and by creating clarity and stability that enables teams to deliver at a sustainable pace.
Required:
• Bachelor's degree or direct and applicable work experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of experience managing the implementation and support of a technical solution through the full software development life cycle. This includes experience in leadership, typically gained through formal or informal leadership that demonstrates knowledge of work processes, products and services, and leadership competencies.
• Demonstrated planning and implementation skills.
• Ability to apply job-specific skills to make value-added contributions that align with evolving business strategies.
• Consultative and analytical skills to lead the team to appropriate decisions and recommendations.
• Demonstrated ability to express complex concepts clearly and concisely in writing and verbally. Experience in managing and analyzing complex information.
• Excellent problem solving and negotiation skills
• Ability to influence and motivate others who are direct reports as well as those from other divisions and departments, including change management, creating a sense of urgency and teachable points of view.
• Demonstrated ability to utilize excellent time management.
• Experience in health or financial services industry technology.
• Strong knowledge of systems, products and infrastructure, including all aspects of information technology for an organization of similar size, and applicable technology trends.
• Knowledge of state and federal health care regulations.
• Travel required up to 5 percent.
 
Preferred:
• Bachelor's degree.
• Health services or financial services knowledge specific to areas of accountability.
• Global understanding of health plan products and policies is preferred.  
• Experience partnering with global staffing vendors to deliver projects.
Job Responsibilities 
a. Provide leadership and day-to-day management of financial and human resources, primarily focusing on employee coaching, development, performance improvement, coordination and budgeting for staff and department(s) specific functions/services. Support business objectives and produce results that are effective, accurate, and timely and on target to meet HR team and stakeholder needs.
b. Manage and oversee multi-disciplined teams, responsible for the full software development life cycle, which includes planning, analysis, design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance of a software system or packaged vendor solutions.
c. Contribute to the continuous improvement of standards, methodologies, change, release and incident management processes, policies, procedures, tools and infrastructure, in conjunction with Wellmark Technology leaders and other stakeholders. Ensure the architecture, infrastructure, and technical solutions are designed for optimal reusability and integration, aligning with Wellmark technology, enables innovation and understand technology trends that can create business value in collaboration with Wellmark Technology leadership.  
d. Develop and mentor multi-disciplined teams on business practices and technical capabilities. Lead departmental compliance with applicable legal, regulatory, and contractual requirements, as well as with corporate policies.
e. Become a trusted advisor and advocate for developing and supporting solutions to meet business needs. Develop an in-depth knowledge of Wellmark’s core business processes, systems, and collaborate with portfolio team to ensure alignment of initiatives.
f. Engage and collaborate with multi-disciplined teams to ensure the successful implementation and support of solutions.
g. Develop and maintain long-term, collaborative relationships with key software and vendor solution providers. Ensure all are leading advocates for executing business solutions. Evaluate and manage the business relationship; including but not limited to ensuring adherence to Wellmark guidelines and standards, oversight of vendor operational metrics, and the management of vendor performance.
h. Ensure the deployment and maintenance of business application solutions, are successfully integrated within Wellmark’s business environment.
i. Other duties as assigned.
