Our team develops software solutions for Garmin Marine, the platform for tracking, monitoring, and navigating marine environments using data gathered from our advanced marine devices. The Marine ecosystem relies on complex technical solutions with multiple microservices working together to process, categorize, and utilize information provided by marine chart plotters, fish finders, autopilot systems, radar, marine charts, and other marine electronics. These solutions ensure seamless integration and performance, empowering users to navigate safely and efficiently while enjoying their time on the water. Our innovative products and solutions have been recognized with multiple awards from the National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA), underscoring our commitment to excellence and leadership in marine technology.
As a Team Leader, you will be directing and coordinating software development activities within Garmin Marine Cloud teams. You will directly supervise Java software backend engineers, oversee training and career development for all your team members and address team problems. You will help design, implement and develop various sets of APIs that support multiple business segments in accordance with Garmin's software development methodology.
Requirements:
Technical:
• Strong knowledge of Java.
• Working experience with CI/CD, Docker and/or Kubernetes.
• Skilled in Architectural and Software Design review.
• Demonstrated project management experience.
Leadership & soft skills:
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in leading teams of 4+ people.
• Proven experience in performance evaluation of team members.
• Ability to set SMART objectives for each team member that align with the team and organizational goals.
• Demonstrate mentoring experience in helping team members tailor their careers.
• Focus on efficient time and resource management.
• Demonstrate strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Skilled in feedback delivery for team members.
• Able to negotiate different aspects of product delivery with team members and stakeholders.
• Strong initiative to find ways to improve solutions, systems, and processes.
• Solid abilities in organizing, planning, and prioritizing teamwork.
• Adaptable, proactive and passionate about technology & innovation.
• Excellent English speaking and writing skills.
Would be a plus:
• Cloud development (Azure, AWS) previous work experience.
• Knowledge of Incident Management practices.
• Experience with Information Systems ownership.
