Job Description

About the role

Team Leader / Driver (Class 4)

Full-time | Monday to Friday | Public Holidays as required

We are seeking an experienced Team Leader / Driver to join our operations team. This is a busy, hands-on role that combines leadership, coordination, and driving responsibilities, ideal for someone with a strong work ethic and a “can‑do” attitude.

The role involves early starts or late afternoon finishes, working public holidays, and three Saturdays per year, with the possibility of occasional additional Saturdays.

About the Role

As a Team Leader / Driver, you will play a key role in ensuring daily routes are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. You will support drivers, assist Operations Managers, and step in on routes or trucks as required to keep operations running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating drivers and supporting the day-to-day execution of transport operations to ensure services run safely, efficiently, and on schedule. You’ll take a proactive approach to problem-solving, provide hands-on support when needed, and ensure high standards across operations and customer service.

• Coordinate drivers, ensuring pre-start checks are completed and vehicles depart on schedule, including arranging cover for absences.
• Prepare driver rosters and support the Operations Supervisor with daily operational coordination.
• Provide relief driving across routes as required, including loading and unloading duties.
• Maintain accurate records, complete documentation, and operate relevant systems.
• Ensure vehicles are well-presented, maintained, and compliant with safety and operational standards.
• Promote a high standard of customer service and ensure compliance with company procedures, including fatigue management.

About you

You’re a natural leader with strong operational awareness and a hands-on approach. You’re organised, dependable, and able to keep things running smoothly while supporting your team. You’re just as comfortable behind the wheel as you are coordinating schedules and solving day-to-day challenges.

You’ll bring:

• A minimum Class 4 New Zealand Driver’s Licence.
• Proven experience in a driving role (HR or Class 4).
• Demonstrated supervisory or team leadership experience.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Mechanical aptitude and understanding of vehicle operations.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

What’s in it for you?

Join a supportive and experienced team where no two days are the same. This role offers a great mix of leadership and hands-on work, along with competitive pay, ongoing training, and opportunities to grow your career within a well-established organisation.
