Position Summary
We are seeking a Team Lead - Welder to join our production team. This role is responsible for managing a group of welders while producing high-quality welds in compliance with CSA W47.1 and W59 standards, as required by the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB). The successful candidate will ensure all welding and fabrication work meets ICE Western’s quality, productivity, and safety standards.
Schedule
Afternoon Shift: Monday - Friday, 3:30pm - 12:00am
Key Responsibilities
Perform welding tasks in accordance with CSA W47.1 and W59 standards
Build and assemble large skids according to production requirements
Read, interpret, and work from blueprint drawings
Identify and select appropriate raw materials
Operate and maintain welding and fabrication tools (grinders, torches, chop saws, wire-feed welders)
Conduct work primarily in the flat welding position, using material rolling as required
Ensure welds meet quality and consistency standards
Follow production and quality control (QC) inspection processes
Adhere to all safety procedures, including PPE use, and participate in safety meetings
Lead, train, and support welding staff
Qualifications
Journeyman Welder
Valid CWB certification in FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding)
Experience with flux core welding in a production environment
Registered with the Alberta Apprenticeship Board (or willing to register after hire)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail, concentration, and problem-solving skills
Knowledge or training in WHMIS and OSSA (asset)
Class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation
Management or supervisory experience (asset)
Tools Required
