Title: Team Lead - Student Experience, Pathways to Education

Reports to: Roger Romero

Position Type: Contract, Part-Time (10 hours/week or 0.3 FTE – 2 years)

Salary:  $26.66-$31.36 per hour

Location: Kingston

 

Position Summary

The Team Lead - Student Experience is responsible for the planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of academic and social programming within the Pathways to Education (P2E) Program. The role involves building relationships with staff, community partners, schools, and volunteers to enhance resources and programming for Program participants. The Team Lead supports the Program Manager and collaborates regularly with the Researcher and other Team Leads to ensure effective program delivery. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

Program Planning & Implementation

Schedule program activities and locations, and transportation, as needed.

Secure permits for programming, as needed.

Ensure safe, organized program environments, including on-site set-up, development and implementation of entry/exit procedures, and safety and emergency protocols.

Monitor and allocate program resources effectively, including overseeing the programming budget.

Support the integration of technology into programming, as required.

Oversee the food and nutrition programming.

Collaborate with current student and alumni programs in planning and evaluation efforts.

Oversee the development and communication of the program calendar.

Oversee and support special programming efforts (e.g., Outdoor Education Program, Peer Leadership Program).

Volunteer Coordination

Recruit, train, and mentor/supervise volunteers.

Match volunteers’ skills and experience with program requirements.

Act as the main point of contact for all volunteer inquires and concerns

Complete performance evaluations for volunteers.

Ensure volunteers understand and adhere to program policies and procedures.

Support organizational volunteer initiatives e.g., actively participate on the organizational volunteer planning and recognition committee

Staff & Program Support

Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training of new staff members, as needed.

Support the development of and reporting on funding proposals, as needed.

Collect and analyze program data to inform improvements and decision-making.

Incorporate trauma-responsive approaches into policies, procedures, and programming approaches.

Promote open communication and staff and student engagement in program development.

Assist with strategic and operational planning.

Provide regular updates on individual participant program participation to foster communication and collaboration among team members, ensuring students receive the best possible support.

Evaluation & Quality Improvement

Lead programming evaluations to assess effectiveness and impact, ensuring continuous improvement, informed decision making, and the delivery of high-quality services that meet the needs of the stakeholders (e.g., funders and participants).

Track program attendance, identify trends, and analyze program impact.

Work with the Researcher to collect qualitative and quantitative data, as directed by Manager.

Provide recommendations to enhance client-centred, evidence-based programming.

Team Leadership & Relationship Building

Foster a supportive and inclusive team environment.

Participate in team meetings and check-ins with programming leads.

Build and maintain relationships with school boards, community partners, and internal teams.

Represent Pathways in internal meetings, committees, and collaborations, as needed.

 

Organizational Responsibilities

Comply with all relevant legislation and KCHC policies, including privacy laws

Commits to acquiring an understanding of the importance of trauma responsiveness and the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)  

Commits to demonstrating an ongoing commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Indigenization and Accessibility (EDIIA) by representing the diverse nature of our communities, promoting and practicing inclusion

Supports consistent application and development of KCHC policies and procedures

Supports KCHC’s student and volunteer placement programs

Promotes awareness of and participation in KCHC activities

Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and quality improvement

On occasion, perform other temporary duties as required

 

Basic Education and Experience Requirements

Undergraduate degree, college diploma or combination of education and related experience

Experience coaching staff

Experience with programming for different social needs and age characteristics

Experience in program development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation

Direct experience with resources for special learning and language needs of students

Direct experience with resources for youth in areas of legal and health challenges

Ability to build partnerships with community or social service agencies

Formal training or demonstrated experience using quality improvement techniques is an asset.

Formal training or demonstrated experience using Trauma Responsive approaches is an asset

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Evidence of high levels of organization, time management and communication skills, (oral and written, for a variety of audiences)

Ability to work cooperatively and problem solve using effective negotiation and people management skills in a team based environment

Knowledge of community-based health care; social determinants of health; provincial health policies and legislation; and regulations and legislation relevant to the position (including child protection laws)

Knowledge of current curriculum expectations and youth resilience building blocks in youth programming

Proficiency in the use of computers and relevant software and media applications

Ability to meet the physical demands of the position

 

Other Requirements

This position requires regular evening work and some weekends

Valid Driver’s Licence, Driver’s Abstract and proof of vehicle liability insurance as this is a requirement under KCHC’s insurance provider (HIROC) 

Current and satisfactory Criminal and Vulnerable Persons Check

French language is an asset
