Vault 44.01 (“Vault”) is a leading carbon capture & storage (“CCS”) developer focused on the development, capitalization, and operation of carbon storage assets throughout North America. Vault’s team brings over 90 years of direct carbon storage experience, with involvement in the development of carbon storage projects across North America since 2007.
Vault’s capabilities span technical analysis, project design, permitting, stakeholder engagement, land leasing and acquisition, facility construction, and operations. In collaboration with our industrial partners, we are currently developing CCS projects in the US Midwest, US Southeast, and Canada focusing on single CO2 source, near-site sequestration projects and including 7 projects currently under contract.
Vault has secured a US$300 million equity capital commitment from Grey Rock Investment Partners (Dallas, TX based private equity company) and has offices in Denver, CO and Calgary, AB.

Opportunity:
Reporting to the Director of Accounting & Treasury, the Accounting Team Lead plays a key role in overseeing and supporting all aspects of financial and operational accounting. This position is responsible for ensuring that transactions are accurately recorded, financial data is complete and reliable, and all activities are in compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements. The role also focuses on strengthening internal controls, enhancing reporting processes, and driving continuous improvements in efficiency and accuracy across the function.
In addition to core accounting responsibilities, the Accounting Team Lead will supervise and mentor a staff accountant, fostering a high-performance, collaborative team environment. This role partners closely with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives, provide financial insights, and contribute to informed decision-making. The ideal candidate is both detail-oriented and forward-thinking, with a strong ability to streamline processes, adapt to a dynamic environment, and support the company’s broader financial and operational objectives.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Lead and optimize accounting operations across a complex, multi-entity and multi-currency environment
Lead the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and continuous improvement
Support treasury activities, including accounts payable and receivable, cash and bank account management, and coordination of capital calls
Prepare and review general ledger entries and account reconciliations, delivering high-quality financial data and insights
Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements in compliance with U.S. GAAP
Deliver clear, insightful monthly financial reporting and variance analysis to the leadership team, Sponsor, Board and Committees
Evaluate and document the accounting treatment for new and complex transactions, including the preparation of technical accounting memos for audit purposes
Lead external financial and tax audits, acting as the primary point of contact and ensuring a smooth, efficient process
Stay ahead of evolving accounting standards and proactively implement required changes
Coordinate information requests for tax compliance and filing obligations, and perform first review of tax returns and related filings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with company records before final submission
Mentor and develop a staff accountant, fostering growth through coaching, feedback, and hands-on guidance
Support performance management and professional development planning for staff accountant
Assist with annual SG&A budget preparation, monthly reforecast, and variance analysis
Oversee and strengthen internal financial controls
Take on additional responsibilities as needed in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA certification
Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience
Strong technical expertise in accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance; experience with US GAAP is an asset
Proficiency in financial software and systems (e.g., ERP systems, Excel)
Legally authorized to work in Canada
