The Peter Guo-hua Fu School of Architecture seeks a Teaching Assistant for ARCH 543 delivered in Summer 2026 as part of McGill’s participation in the fourth edition of Projet REM, with a background that bridges architecture, public art, fabrication, research, and community engaged project coordination.

The TA experience spans design–build, material experimentation, site responsive installation, academic research, and community facing project management. Their professional and artistic record, should include exhibitions, fabrication experience, demonstrating a strong capability for leading students through critical, exploratory, and hands on design processes.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the instructor to prepare course materials, design briefs, timelines, and evaluation rubrics.

• Support setup and management of digital course platforms (MyCourses, Teams) driven digital environments.

• Guide student teams through research, conceptualization, and iteration, leveraging expertise developed through their time in architectural studies, studio arts training, and sites specific installation.

• Provide technical and methodological support in, fabrication workflows, prototyping strategies, materials testing, analysis, and sourcing, workshop protocols, and digital design tools (Rhino, Adobe Suite, AutoCAD, Revit).

• Support communication with Projet REM partners and external collaborators.

• Assist with logistics for site visits, meetings with community representatives, interuniversity workshops, and public presentations.

• Ensure student deliverables are aligned with Projet REM guidelines, safety standards, and timelines.

• Participate in evaluating student assignments, conceptual proposals, interim critiques, and final submissions.

• Maintain accurate grade and feedback records, ensuring clarity and consistency.

• Attend weekly coordination sessions to align course progression with Projet REM milestones.

• Contribute to the development of final reports, public‑facing documentation, and presentation material summarizing McGill’s involvement in Projet REM 2026.

Qualifications:

• Holder of a B.Sc. or M.Arch. in Architecture  and a BFA  or the equivalent.

• Significant experience in public installation and exhibition.

• Demonstrated skill in fabrication, material experimentation, and site specific work, as evidenced in exhibitions, research output, and press coverage.

• Excellent organizational, communication, and coordination skills.

• Proficiency with digital tools including Adobe Creative Suite, Rhino, AutoCAD, Revit, 3D modeling and rendering tools, and data oriented software .

• Experience facilitating public talks and discussions demonstrating capacity for guiding discourse and communicating complex ideas clearly.

• Availability for studio hours, critiques, workshops, site visits, and coordination activities throughout Summer 2026.
